And So It Begins... Episode 1; Season 1 : The Gathering

Episode 1 has 2 of the best guest stars ever, Christopher Lambert from the Highlander movies, and Richard Moll, or as I will always remember him, Bull from Night Court. Christopher Lambert plays Connor MacLeod, Duncan MacLeod's teacher and Clansman, while Richard Moll plays a  bad dude named Slan.(my theory on the name Slan is that he was supposed to be named Stan, but the writers decided it wasn't evil sounding.)

When the opening scene begins, on what is decidedly the most poorly acted, written, and edited episode of Highlinder, Immortal Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul) and his super hot babe Tessa Noel (Alexandra VanDerNoot) are getting it on above their antique store, while a rascally young man Richie Ryan (Stan Kirsch) is busy breaking into the store below. Sensing the presence of another immortal, which seems be similar to tingling Spidey senses,  Duncan abruptly ceases his penetration of Tessa to investigate. Shirtless and oiled with Katana in hand, Duncan stumbles upon Richie who is pretending to be a swashbuckler with an antique sword he plans to steal. This is when it gets super awesome, because Bull from Night Court leaps through a skylight looking like this...
Seriously! Does it get better then that? I would argue that it certainly does not! In the same scene Connor MacLeod arrives. He threatens Bull, Bull threatens Him, Duncan, and Tessa. Bull jumps, in unnecessary slow motion, through a plate glass window as police sirens approach the antique shop and runs away. Connor follows hoping to catch him, and Richie is confused as he should be.

My next favorite part of episode 1 occurs when Connor and Duncan are having some sword practice quality time in an abandoned warehouse. The fictional town of Seacouver Washington is covered with abandoned warehouses and parking garages where one can behead someone in peace. Connor is low maintenance in his sweatshirt and white sneakers, while Duncan is wearing a puffy shirt, like a pirate. It's pretty cool. In fact most of Duncan's awesome 90's attire is pretty cool. Like his purple blouse paired with a blue crushed velvet vest, seriously rad. The 90's were good.

Of course all good things must come to an end and on Highlander that means a beheading and a quickening.
Connor and Bull have a sword fight on a bridge, just when it seems Connor will win Bull shoots him with a magic sword gun and he falls over the edge of the bridge into the churning waters below. Duncan pulls up in his 1964 black Thunderbird convertible and takes over where Connor left off. He chops Bulls head off and gets his quickening.
It turns out Richie has been watching the whole time and is just a wee freaked out. Duncan looks at him and leaps off the bridge to find Connor.
So join us next time for another amazing episode of Highlander!
